Upcoming Spacewalks to Conclude ISS Solar Array Installation
NASA announced two upcoming spacewalks, scheduled for October 29 and November 5, to complete the installation of solar arrays and augment power for the International Space Station (ISS). These are the final pair of arrays, which were delivered to the station last week via SpaceX-35.
The first spacewalk marks the 285th in support of station assembly, maintenance, and upgrades, while the second on November 5 will be the 286th. Gaurang Patel, operations integration manager for the Low Earth Orbit Program, stated that these rollout arrays are projected to increase the ISS's power generation capability by up to 30%, elevating the total power from 160 kW to as much as 215 kW.
