First Look: Riding in Tesla's Autonomous Cybercab

Tesla Flex documented the inaugural ride in the Tesla Cybercab, an autonomous vehicle designed for urban mobility. The user initiated the ride process through a mobile application, where options for both Cybercab and Model Y Robo Taxi were presented. The estimated cost for the ride was displayed as $6, providing transparency upfront for the user.

Upon selecting the Cybercab, the system quickly searched for nearby available vehicles to fulfill the ride request. The application displayed a real-time map, allowing the user to track the Cybercab's path as it autonomously navigated towards the pickup location. Once the vehicle arrived, its doors automatically opened, facilitating a smooth entry for the passenger.

Once inside the Cybercab, the user's primary actions involved buckling the seatbelt and ensuring the door was shut. With these safety steps complete, the ride was initiated by simply tapping a 'start ride' button on the in-cabin interface. Notably, the Cybercab operates entirely without a steering wheel, emphasizing its fully autonomous nature and removing the need for human intervention.

During the autonomous ride, passengers have access to a range of interactive features through the Cybercab's in-cabin interface. This includes the ability to converse with Grok, Tesla's AI, and control various environmental and entertainment settings. Users can adjust media playback, modify accent lighting, reposition their seats, and even change the cabin temperature to their preference.

Upon reaching the destination, the Cybercab facilitated the passenger's exit by automatically opening the door. After the user stepped out, the doors shut themselves, indicating the completion of the ride. The system then prompted the user to rate the experience and offered an option to leave a tip, after which the Cybercab autonomously drove off to its next task or station.
