African Nations Willing to Participate in Gaza Stabilization Force

The 'Gaza Stabilization International Force' (FIS), proposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump, has a defined name and purpose, but its specific timeline and mission scope remain undetermined.

Nevertheless, several African nations, including Morocco, Uganda, Somaliland, and Burundi, have stated their readiness to dispatch troops to this international force.

Morocco established diplomatic relations with Israel on December 10, 2020, through the Abraham Accords, strengthening its strategic alliance as the U.S. recognized Morocco's sovereignty over the Western Sahara.

Morocco has already sent about 30 officers to the Gaza Strip for reconnaissance this summer, and according to U.S. General Jasper Jeffers, an advance party of approximately 500 troops could be deployed first.

Muhoozi Kainerugaba, military commander and son of President Yoweri Museveni, is leading the deployment of approximately 1,200 troops to the Gaza Strip, continuing pro-Israel actions such as the erection of a statue of Yonatan Netanyahu at Entebbe Airport.

According to Israeli media, Uganda's troop deployment could amount to approximately 1,200 personnel, and Uganda has shown pro-Israel gestures, such as erecting a statue of Yonatan Netanyahu at Entebbe Airport.

Somaliland is considering dispatching approximately 2,000 troops, hoping that the U.S. will follow Israel's precedent in recognizing them as an independent state, but concerns are raised that U.S. recognition could negatively impact the conflict between the central Somali government and Al-Shabaab.

Skepticism is spreading regarding the success of the Gaza stabilization force. While Hamas disarmament and gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces are prerequisites, experts state that the significant differences in position between both sides make their realization on the ground unlikely.

Currently, the wide divergence in positions between Hamas and Israel means that the possibility of these conditions being met on the ground remains uncertain.
