Philippine Coast Guard Gains 45 New Ships

Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan confirmed a massive acquisition of new vessels for the Philippine Coast Guard, marking a significant step in the agency's modernization. This expansion is officially recognized as the largest single purchase in the Coast Guard's history, underscoring its transformative impact on their operational capabilities.

The Philippine Coast Guard is procuring 40 fast patrol boats from France as part of its modernization program. Of these, 20 boats will be entirely manufactured in France. The remaining 20 boats are designated for local construction or assembly within the Philippines, signifying a strategic approach to technology transfer and local industry development.

A critical aspect of the agreement is the establishment of a local shipyard within the Philippines.
