Three KOSDAQ Hidden Gems Overshadowed by Samjeonix

In the first half of the year, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix dominated the stock market, making it difficult to find other stocks that could surpass them. However, as the second half approaches, with the gradual recovery of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, promising KOSDAQ companies have begun to stand out. At this point, it is crucial to deeply understand not only the stock value of a company but also the nature of the business it operates.

These companies were chosen based on their unique business models and growth potential, not limited to a specific sector.

As Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) became Genoco's largest shareholder (34% stake), Genoco has taken on a significant role in the domestic aerospace communication equipment sector. KAI's acquisition of Genoco is driven by the strategic goal of localizing and internalizing key components. Especially in the defense and aerospace industries, stable supply and technological independence of core components are essential.

Genoco is highly capable in technology internalization, with over 40% of its total employees engaged in research and development (R&D). This human resource composition forms the basis for successfully executing KAI's mission of localizing components. By developing and producing high-performance communication equipment with its own technology, Genoco contributes to strengthening the competitiveness of the Korean aerospace industry.

Genoco's core revenue source, its cash cow, is the defense key components business. It secures stable sales in this area, which forms a solid foundation for the company. Furthermore, satellite communication and avionics are emerging as future growth engines.

In particular, Genoco's role in the military satellite market is expanding. Military satellites are divided into reconnaissance satellites for monitoring enemy nations and communication satellites for internal military communication. Genoco is contributing to the internalization of core components for these satellites, showing high growth potential. As demand for the localization of military satellite technology increases, Genoco's technological capabilities are expected to become even more important.

This business structure indicates that Genoco is currently generating stable profits while exploring new growth opportunities in future key technology areas. The stability of defense components and the growth of satellite communication and avionics will be major factors enhancing Genoco's long-term corporate value.

In particular, it has played a crucial role in important projects such as the military communication optical cable performance improvement project, gaining recognition for its technological prowess.

This strong foothold in the defense sector also serves as a cash cow for its satellite communication and avionics businesses. Based on stable defense sales, Genoco is creating a virtuous cycle that allows it to continue investing in future growth engines like satellite communication and avionics.

Genoco's 'X-band transmitter' boasts outstanding technology, to the extent that it will be mounted on the next-generation medium-sized satellites No. 1 and No. 2. This transmitter possesses world-class transmission speed, allowing for efficient processing of large-volume video data. This is particularly optimized for quickly and accurately transmitting high-resolution video information essential for military satellite reconnaissance missions.

The exceptional performance of the X-band transmitter maximizes the efficiency of military satellite image analysis and plays a crucial role in real-time battlefield situation assessment and decision-making support. As such, Genoco contributes to strengthening national defense capabilities through its core satellite component technology. Its self-developed high-performance transmitter is also considered a key element in increasing the self-reliance of the domestic satellite industry.

This is due to Genoco's localized technology, which has the capability to replace the maintenance sector previously monopolized by foreign companies like Thales. Genoco's technology is expected to greatly contribute to enhancing the self-reliance of the domestic defense industry.

Genoco is expected to play a crucial role in the 'Anasis 3' military satellite communication system project. In particular, it is highly likely to be responsible for the design and construction of the military communication ground station. Genoco already has references for ground station design and construction from the Anasis 1 and 2 projects, and is expected to participate in this project based on its proven technology.

EMP shielding protection system technology will be applied in this project, and Genoco also has strengths in this area. Through the Anasis 3 project, stable revenue is expected to be generated for the next 10 years.

Clear aligners, once not mainstream, have established themselves as a significant part of the market in recent years due to technological advancements and increased aesthetic preferences.

This is attributed to increased selling, general, and administrative expenses, particularly marketing costs, aimed at raising market awareness.

Currently, Graphy is in the initial stage of actively promoting its products in the market, similar to the early growth trajectory of Align Technology, a former leader in the clear aligner market. An initial investment deficit is analyzed as an essential process for future market share expansion.

Such aggressive marketing investment is expected to enhance brand recognition and strengthen market position in the long term, leading to sales growth and improved operating profit.

Graphy's current market capitalization is around 200 billion won, and its sales last year reached 20.5 billion won. Graphy's growth strategy extends beyond merely dividing the existing clear aligner market.

What is noteworthy is its gradual encroachment into the wire, bracket, and wire orthodontic market, which accounts for about 70% of the entire orthodontic market. Graphy has the potential to expand the overall market size by converting customers from this conservative market to clear aligners.

Therefore, Graphy is expected to expand its market share by offering a new alternative to consumers accustomed to traditional orthodontic methods, based on technology accumulated since its pre-IPO days. This will be a major driver of the company's long-term growth.

The medical industry is very conservative, making it difficult to persuade with simple product promotions from sales representatives. Instead, the opinions of authoritative professors and highly complete research papers play a decisive role in product adoption.

Therefore, Graphy focuses on accumulating clinical cases through its overseas network of specialists and using this to establish academic evidence. This approach is crucial for gaining the trust of medical professionals and accelerating market expansion for its products.

Graphy's annual selling and administrative expenses are estimated at approximately 24 billion won (2 billion won per month). Considering a gross profit margin of 70-80%, roughly 40 billion won in annual revenue will be needed to reach the break-even point.

Currently, Graphy continues aggressive sales and marketing investments for market share expansion, so the timing of a net profit turnaround is still uncertain. However, if sales growth reaches the target, profitability is expected to improve rapidly.

This financial goal can be seen as a strategic choice for Graphy to secure growth momentum in the early stages of the market and will contribute to increasing corporate value in the long term.

It appeals to consumers by offering designs that blur the lines between outdoor wear and daily wear, not limited to specific camping activities. By leveraging Snow Peak's strong brand image, it is securing competitiveness in both the outdoor apparel market and the lifestyle fashion market.

Kansung Corporation is actively targeting the Southeast Asian market as part of its overseas expansion strategy. In particular, it emphasizes the brand as 'daily wear' that can be worn comfortably in everyday life, in addition to the functionality of existing outdoor apparel.

This strategy considers the characteristics of warm climates in Southeast Asia, differentiating it from other brands focused solely on outdoor activities. By effectively applying Snow Peak Japan's luxurious brand image to overseas markets, it is focusing on positioning itself as a premium lifestyle brand for local consumers.

Kansung Corporation is committed to increasing shareholder value through active shareholder return policies. The largest shareholder and CEO are continuously purchasing over 5 billion won worth of treasury stock, demonstrating a commitment to responsible management and sending a positive signal to the market.

Additionally, the company announced and is diligently implementing a policy to return 50% of its net income to shareholders for three years starting in 2024. This policy includes dividend payments as well as treasury stock repurchases and cancellations. Treasury stock repurchases and cancellations have the effect of increasing earnings per share by reducing the number of circulating shares, directly benefiting existing shareholders.

The company is striving to achieve both stock price stabilization and improved shareholder profitability, which is one of the factors making it an attractive investment. The management's willingness to share profits with shareholders based on long-term corporate growth is notable.

These shareholder-friendly policies instill confidence in the company's stability and growth, and are expected to positively influence future investment attraction.
