Introducing 'Patan,' the Champion Horse of Chaudhari Farm

FSA Entertainment visited Chaudhari House Farm with Mr. Salman Chaudhari. Mr. Salman introduced 'Patan,' the farm's proud horse, and explained 'Patan''s name and basic characteristics. This horse is 61 inches tall and between 4-5 years old, a skilled horse that has excellently completed both riding and carriage training. 'Patan' is characterized by its unique Jeera-colored spots, he added.

'Patan' is well-trained for carriages, and a detailed explanation of its color followed. This horse is not the generally known 'Nukra' breed; it has a unique color often called 'Jeera' color. The spots on its body are characteristic of 'Phulkari Nukra,' a breed with black skin and white hair. Mr. Salman emphasized that 'Patan' differs from typical Phulkari Nukra with its black skin and dark brown hair.

In response to a question about whether the horses brought in this time seemed to have received good care in a specific region, he replied that horse management is a crucial factor.

Mr. Salman primarily prefers large horses, and the 4-5 horses brought in this time are from Maharashtra and Gujarat, he stated. He emphasized that rather than concluding that horses from a specific region are better, the management method of the person rearing them determines the horse's quality. A well-managed horse maintains a good condition, he said, adding that good rearing environments make horses excellent.

Mr. Salman explained that farmers in Gujarat primarily feed horses groundnut leaves and hay. In contrast, in the Maharashtra region, they mainly give berseem (fodder grass) and fresh green grass. He detailed the differences in horse feed according to the region.

Mr. Salman mentioned feeding more green fodder and, when asked which feed is better for horses, replied that both are good. He explained that horses eat any type of feed well, and the most important thing is for the horse to adapt well to the farm. At Chaudhari Farm, all horses are adapted by feeding them 'kutti' and straw, he stated.

Mr. Salman explained that all horses at the farm are well-adapted to kutti and straw. He then mentioned his plan to build up the physique of horses to be exhibited in shows. He is currently using a feed called 'Ashwa Feed,' which he said is very effective for horse nutritional management. In the past, bajri was soaked overnight and given in the morning, but Ashwa Feed has simplified this process, he added.

Mr. Salman emphasized that Ashwa Feed eliminates the hassle of soaking bajri overnight and directly yields good results. This feed has brought him good results, and he provides it not only to his own horses but also to horses of some clients who bring their feed directly, he stated.

Mr. Salman explained the monthly cost of rearing one horse. If Ashwa Feed is used, one bag costs 300 rupees and can feed one horse for about 20 days. Therefore, the Ashwa Feed cost alone amounts to approximately 4,500 rupees per month, he revealed. This cost is directly borne by the feed supplier, he added.

Besides Ashwa Feed, kutti and hay are essential feeds for horses, Mr. Salman said. To this, various supplements like calcium, minerals, oil, and Himalayan Bhatisa are sometimes mixed in, and salt is also added, he explained. Thus, he provides a blend of several nutritional supplements to horses, and Ashwa Feed is brought directly by the owner, he added.

Mr. Salman stated that he mixes various supplements, including Himalayan Bhatisa, into the horses' feed and adds salt. Ashwa Feed is provided by the horse owner, and the horse's diet does not change with the weather, he explained. He emphasized the importance of horses consistently maintaining a set diet.

Mr. Salman reiterated that horses follow a set diet and, when asked about gelding, stated that his farm has not yet had any gelded horses. When asked if a gelded horse previously filmed elsewhere was from Chaudhari Farm, he replied that the horse was gelded elsewhere. He made it clear that Chaudhari Farm does not prefer gelded horses.

Mr. Salman explained that gelded horses decrease in value. He stated that gelded horses are rarely found on his farm, and he does not prefer to buy or sell gelded horses. He expressed a negative stance on geldings, emphasizing the inherent charm of stallions.

He called Tahir to prepare 'Patan' for riding.

As Tahir brought 'Patan,' Mr. Salman explained the farm's horse rearing costs. He currently charges 12,000 rupees per month, which is very affordable compared to other farms that charge 20,000-25,000 rupees, he stated. He questioned whether Chaudhari Farm provides a lower level of service despite this price difference.

Mr. Salman asked back if there was any problem with the quality of horses at his farm despite the low rearing costs. He stated that 'Patan' had been reared at his farm for two months and explained the cost difference compared to other farms. He said that differences in rearing methods create these price disparities. He emphasized the excellent condition of the horses, demonstrating that good results can be achieved even with low costs.

Mr. Salman stated that while everyone rears horses in their own way, his farm can manage horses sufficiently for 12,000 rupees per month. This cost includes all medication expenses. He asked customers to refer to their reviews, emphasizing that the farm maintains high standards even at such reasonable prices. However, he explained that if a horse sustains a serious injury, such as a broken leg, the treatment cost must be borne by the horse owner.

Serious injuries have not occurred yet, and if they do, the owner must bear responsibility, Mr. Salman emphasized. Finally, he reiterated 'Patan''s information. 'Patan' is 61 inches tall, 4-5 years old, and the price for interested buyers is 150,000 rupees, he stated. With this, all information about 'Patan' was disclosed.
