Tesla Roadster Unveiling Event After Nine Years

Since its unveiling in 2017, the second-generation Tesla Roadster has faced both anticipation and concern, with its production timeline delayed five times. Initially targeting production in 2020, it has undergone multiple delays, ultimately pushing it back to 2026.

This time, with the event date confirmed for October 1st, invitations sent, and the venue finalized, it appears there has been concrete progress unlike previous instances.

Tesla has filed patents related to the Roadster, including a vehicle silhouette and composite material seats, which represent a significant advancement over the design revealed in 2017. Particularly noteworthy is patent US12377920, concerning an adaptive vehicle aerodynamic device.

This patent suggests the possibility of achieving downforce using four fans under the vehicle, which has generated excitement due to its connection with podcast mentions of the Roadster's ground-effect levitation capabilities.

Rumors have spread that the silhouette under the tarp in this video resembles the design of the second-generation Roadster, increasing expectations for the Roadster's levitation capability.

The Tesla Roadster is expected to be equipped with the A71 thruster developed by SpaceX. This thruster is likely to play a crucial role in the Roadster's performance.

It is also notable that this Roadster unveiling event is taking place next to a SpaceX test site, rather than at Tesla, indicating it could be the first time the SpaceX brand is explicitly featured in a consumer product.

Former Tesla President Jon McNeill previously stated that the Roadster demonstration was intended to combine the two companies.

Some investors have expressed concerns about this. Investor Gary Black warned that a merger could negatively impact shareholders of both Tesla and SpaceX.
