Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed's deleted comments resurface, sparking controversy over his views on gun control and trans rights.
In March 2023, a shooting occurred at a private Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee, resulting in the deaths of six individuals.
The victims included three children, William Kinney, Evelyn Dieckhaus, and Hallie Scruggs, all under nine years old, along with three adults, Katherine Koonce, Cynthia Peak, and Mike Hill, aged 60 and 61 respectively.
He explicitly stated that the epidemic of gun violence in the U.S. is not a 'trans problem' but rather a 'gun problem,' directly linking the pervasive issue to the widespread and unregulated availability of firearms.
El-Sayed also connected the heightened societal tension to what he described as 'draconian' anti-trans laws passed in states like Kentucky, arguing that such legislation strips individuals of their fundamental civil rights.
He proposed changing the wording from 'the right to bear arms' to 'the right to have healthcare,' emphasizing that healthcare has the potential to save lives in contrast to the destructive nature of gun violence.
The host additionally characterized Kentucky's legislative actions as 'pro-child' rather than 'anti-trans,' and labeled El-Sayed as a candidate who 'clearly hates Christians' due to his focus on rescinding the Second Amendment.
