GB News Crew Attacked in Calais Migrant Camp

He highlighted that the timing coincided with charity workers distributing sustenance.

Christys questioned the role of these aid organizations regarding their impact on the UK border situation, observing that their presence seemed to facilitate the migrants' sustained efforts to cross the Channel.

Patrick Christys confronted charity workers about criminal incidents allegedly linked to illegal migrants, citing the stabbing of a migrant hotel worker, Rihanna White, who was reportedly stabbed 23 times in the head by an illegal Sudanese immigrant. He also mentioned a gang rape case on Brighton Beach, allegedly involving three illegal immigrants.

As Christys continued to press for answers, the situation escalated when individuals at the camp approached the crew, leading to a direct confrontation.

The crew also reported being targeted with projectiles, including rocks, bottles, and eggs, as tensions quickly escalated.

As the team attempted to leave, a driver was punched in the back of the head by a migrant who reached into the car, further indicating the hostile environment they encountered.

The crew used radio communication to update colleagues on their injuries.

Additionally, the team's vehicles suffered significant exterior damage, including numerous dents and scratches from the projectiles hurled during the attack, underscoring the severity of the assault.

The migrant camp in Lon Plage has significantly expanded since last year, now covering four or even five distinct areas, according to Patrick Christys' observations. This expansion includes makeshift market areas, food stalls, and living quarters established within wooded sections.

Christys recalled that French police previously discovered an AK-47 in a rucksack during a sweep of the area, raising concerns about potential security risks within the rapidly growing camp.

Patrick Christys drew attention to the vast piles of rubbish accumulating throughout the migrant camp, an issue he believes is underreported. These unsanitary conditions create a high risk for the rapid spread of disease and pose significant public health concerns.

Such poor living conditions not only endanger the health of the migrants themselves but also raise questions about potential long-term health implications for the UK if these individuals eventually cross the Channel.

Patrick Christys attempted to question a migrant about their origins and intentions for traveling to Britain, stating his identity as a British reporter seeking information. However, the individual refused to engage in conversation, highlighting the difficulty in obtaining direct answers.

Christys contrasted the squalid living conditions in Calais with the treatment of migrants in Britain, where they often receive accommodation in hotels or renovated army barracks.

Patrick Christys criticized the disparity between French containment and British accommodation policies for illegal immigrants, noting that French authorities tolerate poor camp conditions. In contrast, Britain provides hotels, sometimes four-star, renovates army barracks, and places migrants in houses of multiple occupancy.

This policy difference was highlighted in relation to French President Emmanuel Macron's calls to reduce 'pull factors' that attract migrants to the UK, suggesting that British policies inadvertently contribute to these factors.

The reporting team faced escalating physical aggression as the camp environment became more hostile, with migrants beginning to throw bottles at Patrick Christys and his team. Christys noted that the individuals clearly desired the crew to leave the area.

The crew's vehicle was struck by projectiles, which Christys described as being 'glassed,' further indicating the dangerous and aggressive nature of the camp environment.

Patrick Christys observed the rapid resurgence of the migrant camp, which he reported was completely cleared by French police just a week prior. Despite the clearance, the site was fully operational again within a week.

Christys noted that the camp's infrastructure now included makeshift food stalls and markets, demonstrating the swift re-establishment of the community.

He questioned whether these structures were intended to protect nearby transport infrastructure from migrant activity.

Christys expressed a belief that these barriers were being funded by British taxpayers, implying a potential misallocation of funds if they were not effectively deterring crossings.

Despite claims from authorities that crossings are down, Christys noted that while they might have slowed, they are certainly not stopping.

He pointed out that the presence of numerous migrants in the camp indicated ongoing attempts to reach Britain. Christys predicted that those currently residing in the camp would soon make their way to the UK, highlighting the perceived failure of the funding to achieve its stated goal.

Christys conveyed a sense of skepticism regarding the official narrative of reduced crossings, asserting that the reality on the ground demonstrated a persistent issue.

Patrick Christys and his team confronted local French police after being violently attacked in the migrant camps, where a bottle nearly hit a security team member and damaged their vehicle. Christys conveyed the team's concern about the severity of the assault.

The police, however, claimed they did not observe the perpetrators within the camp, which prompted the GB News team to question why no arrests were made for the incidents of stone and bottle throwing. This interaction highlighted a perceived lack of enforcement or presence from law enforcement regarding the ongoing aggression.

Patrick Christys observed the existence of free transit for migrants across the coast, noting that an EU taxpayer-funded bus transports individuals along the northern Belgian-French coast. This route connects main train stations to departure points frequently used by illegal migrants heading to Britain, where hundreds have been seen setting off.

A local resident expressed concerns about the impact on the community, citing increased crime and inconveniences experienced due to the facilitated movement of migrants.

Upon contact, traffickers immediately provided their WhatsApp numbers.

Christys also noted that travel between Belgium and France occurs without any border checks, further enabling these operations. Traffickers responded to inquiries within minutes, indicating a highly accessible and efficient network.

Patrick Christys reported on illicit financial support schemes, stating that illegal immigrants in France, once registered for asylum, receive an allowance which can be as much as €5,000 annually for a single migrant man. This system has been linked to complicit local businesses facilitating illegal cash withdrawals.

A local tobacco shop owner was convicted for his involvement in such schemes, receiving a two-year sentence, with nine months served under electronic monitoring. The owner was also fined €50,000, and €146,000 in assets were confiscated, highlighting the legal consequences for businesses involved in these activities.

Patrick Christys reported that his team was forced to leave Dunkirk Central after being chased by what appeared to be an illegal migrant gang in an expensive sports car, making it unsafe to continue filming. The vehicle, identified as an Audi 4x4, followed the crew multiple times.

Occupants of the Audi made threatening signals toward the reporters, further escalating safety concerns. The team deemed it unsafe to continue filming or even to take public transport due to the persistent threat.

This incident occurred near a tobacco shop previously linked to schemes funding Channel crossings, suggesting a connection between the hostility and illicit financial activities.
