Arrests at Labour Conference Palestine Protest

Outside the ACC Liverpool, protesters chanted 'shame on you' and applauded as police took individuals into custody at the Labour Party conference.

As individuals were taken into custody, the crowd chanted 'shame on you' and responded with applause for those being arrested.

Around 250 protesters, primarily older individuals, gathered outside the conference venue, holding non-violent placards.

Approximately 100 police officers were deployed to manage the demonstration, with protesters displaying signs such as 'I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action'.

Police officers were observed filming protesters, likely to gather evidence.

The protest actions are driven by accusations of genocide in Gaza following the October 7th attack, with a reporter noting that since July 2025, 3,600 people have been arrested for similar protest actions.

One protester claimed the British government is complicit in genocide, alleging that the UK has provided surveillance flights and weapons to Israel for three years.

The protester further argued that the government has provided diplomatic cover for Israeli actions and criticized the proscription of Palestine Action, an organization they believe is working to prevent genocide.

A protester questioned the logic behind arresting pensioners for simply holding paper signs, asserting that the demonstrators are non-violent and pose no threat to society.

The protester argued that current policing policies lead to a significant waste of resources and risk overburdening the court system.
