Jim Jordan Alleges FBI Smear Campaign

He noted that out of 33 active CHS at the time, 14, nearly half, flagged problems regarding Hunter Biden and Burisma. However, these concerns were allegedly dismissed by the FBI as Russian disinformation, indicating a potential bias in how information was handled.

This framing occurred despite internal intelligence that raised questions about the validity of these claims. The implication is that the government intentionally sought to discredit elected officials who were pursuing investigations into the Biden family's activities, intertwining legitimate oversight with accusations of foreign influence.

Jim Jordan identified a consistent pattern of alleged government intervention in elections, dating back to 2016. He referenced the use of the Steele dossier against Donald Trump, which he characterized as originating from the Clinton campaign. This pattern, he stated, continued into 2020 with a letter from intelligence officials regarding Hunter Biden's laptop, and extended to 2024 with legal actions taken by Special Counsel Jack Smith. Jordan emphasized these events as examples of the broader issue of alleged politicization within government agencies, impacting electoral processes.

This raises questions about the scope and appropriateness of the task force's activities.

Jim Jordan asserted that elections, particularly for the highest office, must be decided by the people based on accurate facts, free from government manipulation. He stressed that any attempt by the government to place a 'thumb on the scale' and influence the outcome of an election is unacceptable. This principle underscores the importance of an unbiased electoral process, where citizens can make informed decisions without undue interference from state actors or agencies, which he believes was violated.

This admission, according to Jordan, further underscores the concerns raised by confidential human sources and dismissed by the FBI.

Jim Jordan expressed disbelief that the FBI would label members of Congress, who were actively investigating and presenting facts, as 'conduits of false information.' He stated that investigations often uncover more severe misconduct than initially anticipated, suggesting that the FBI's actions were an attempt to stifle legitimate oversight. This targeting of lawmakers for their investigative work raises concerns about the use of intelligence operations against the legislative branch.

He stated his 'gut tells me it was so you didn't go go out and talk as much,' framing these briefings as a tactic to silence political activity. This perspective implies a deliberate effort to curb legislative oversight and public discussion during a critical election period.

He cited instances where Congress was allegedly misled about the 'Russia hoax,' which he claimed was a Hillary Clinton campaign initiative. Solomon also highlighted attempts to discredit accurate information regarding Hunter Biden, with those investigating being labeled as 'Russian disinformation artists.' He concluded by stating that Special Counsel Jack Smith's investigation targeted the records of sitting members of Congress, asserting that these actions violated the constitutional separation of powers and undermined legislative oversight, equating it to the weaponization of government against the legislative branch.

Jordan viewed this as a significant overreach, stating that such access to records allows for pattern analysis of legislative communications. He asserted that this action violated the spirit of the Constitution by infringing upon the privacy and independence of a sitting Speaker of the House, suggesting it was an attempt to monitor or influence legislative activities.

This allegation suggests a deliberate attempt to mislead Congress regarding the extent of the Special Counsel's access to legislative communications, further fueling concerns about executive branch overreach.

He referenced the ongoing efforts to uncover a conspiracy that allegedly began during President Trump's first election in 2016, involving changes to the intelligence community assessment. Jordan expressed praise for the current Attorney General, suggesting a hope for accountability and justice regarding these referrals.
