Jentezen Franklin Calls for a New Generation of 'Giant Killers' to Tackle Modern Challenges

Franklin noted that David, though no longer the young warrior who defeated a bear, a lion, and Goliath, still possessed the 'heart of a lion.' However, his physical strength was waning, putting him at risk during combat with a giant.

This moment of vulnerability for David prompted his men to intervene, swearing that he would no longer join them in battle. Franklin emphasized that David, historically the sole 'giant killer' in Israel's history, was almost defeated until a young man stepped forward to kill the giant threatening him. This event symbolized the emergence of a new wave of 'giant killers,' ready to take on challenges.

Franklin pointed out that these new warriors were not only successful but were also specifically targeting Goliath's four giant brothers. This illustrated a significant escalation in the campaign against these formidable adversaries, indicating a transfer of responsibility and power.

He stated that these are not against 'flesh and blood' but are spiritual forces influencing specific locations and cultures. He provided examples like Las Vegas, New York, and Los Angeles, suggesting that each has a distinct 'giant spirit' at play. Franklin emphasized that understanding these spiritual entities is crucial for effective spiritual warfare. He connected these spiritual giants to various societal issues and personal struggles, asserting that they are not mere coincidences but active forces. He reiterated that believers are called to confront and overcome these spiritual strongholds, just as David and the new generation of warriors confronted physical giants. Franklin concluded this section by urging the congregation to recognize the spiritual nature of many battles they face and to prepare for engagement.

Franklin highlighted David's decision to forgo conventional armor and weapons when facing Goliath, choosing instead his slingshot and five stones. This choice, Franklin explained, was not a lack of resources but an affirmation of spiritual authority. David declared he would fight 'in the name of the Lord,' signifying that divine power was his ultimate weapon, superior to any physical or human-made defense.

He highlighted that it was more than a coincidence that David and three other 'giant killers' all originated from Bethlehem. This pattern, Franklin suggested, indicates that certain geographical or spiritual territories are uniquely conducive to fostering individuals with the courage and anointing to confront significant challenges. He underscored the idea that the environment plays a critical role in nurturing faith and equipping individuals for spiritual battles. Franklin implied that understanding and replicating these 'hot spot' characteristics could help cultivate more 'giant killers' in the present day.

His desire is to see a new wave of individuals who are equally, if not more, anointed and powerful in spiritual warfare, ready to confront the 'giants' of their time.

He suggested that this biblical account provides insights into the community's culture and values, which were instrumental in shaping individuals of great faith and courage. By studying Ruth, believers can discern principles for creating similar environments today.

Franklin emphasized the significance of the language used in Bethlehem, citing a powerful example from Ruth chapter 2. He noted how Boaz, upon encountering his reapers, greeted them with the blessing, 'The Lord be with you.' This demonstrated that a culture of positive, faith-filled speech and mutual blessing contributed to an atmosphere where spiritual growth and the emergence of 'giant killers' could thrive.

Franklin firmly stated that 'giant killers' do not emerge from environments steeped in negativism. He underscored that a critical, pessimistic outlook can hinder spiritual growth and prevent individuals from stepping into their divine calling. This emphasizes the importance of fostering a positive, faith-driven atmosphere within the church and personal lives.

He urged congregants to welcome everyone, regardless of their background or past, reminding them that one cannot know the struggles or circumstances from which individuals have emerged. This reflects a core principle of Christian hospitality and inclusivity.

He recounted how the elders at the gate served as witnesses, acknowledging her inclusion despite her foreign background. This example reinforced his message about the importance of inclusivity within the church, highlighting that God often uses unexpected individuals, including those from outside the traditional fold, to bear witness to His work. He emphasized that accepting and integrating outsiders enriches the community and aligns with divine principles. This practice, Franklin argued, fosters an environment where diverse individuals can contribute to the spiritual mission and grow in faith.

Franklin challenged his congregants to cultivate 'godly ambition'—a desire for fame not for personal glory but for the advancement of God's Kingdom. He expressed a personal aspiration to be like figures such as Billy Graham, reaching souls, being a missionary, or a songwriter for Jesus. This ambition, he explained, is about dedicating one's talents and influence to spiritual impact, emphasizing that every believer can find their unique role in furthering God's work. He encouraged individuals to envision how they can use their lives to make a significant difference, reinforcing that true fulfillment comes from serving a higher purpose. Franklin urged the church to embrace this kind of purpose-driven ambition, transforming personal desires into tools for divine influence and widespread spiritual change.

Franklin then moved to an altar call, describing it as an 'old school' practice that he intends to continue as long as he lives. He firmly believes that physically stepping out in response to a spiritual call is an act of faith, moving individuals 'in the direction of a miracle.' This invitation encourages congregants to make a public declaration of their commitment and readiness to receive divine intervention or make a spiritual decision.

He described it as the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, asserting that regardless of media or political narratives, it is 'crucial for the church to stand with Israel.' This call underscored his belief in the biblical significance of supporting the nation of Israel.

This gesture aims to remind children and families of God's promise of protection amidst ongoing conflict and instability in the region.
