Surrogate Mother Refuses Abortion, Flees to Texas to Save Baby
McKenna West, a surrogate mother, refused to abort a fetus after a diagnosis of hypoplastic left heart syndrome at 20 weeks.
The biological parents, Nashin Gilkar and Omar Amed, had sought to terminate the pregnancy in accordance with their contract.
West then traveled to Texas to give birth to the baby, named Gabriel, in a move to prevent the abortion.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has since intervened to ensure the infant receives necessary medical treatment, while the biological parents are suing to regain custody.
