China's Economic Struggles Lead to Aggressive Tactics

China is leveraging its near-monopoly on rare earth elements to gain political influence on the global stage. The country mines 61% of all rare earths and controls 91% of the world's refining and processing capabilities. This substantial control over critical minerals provides China with significant geopolitical leverage.

Western nations, particularly in Europe, are now regretting their previous decisions to outsource the infrastructure for critical mineral processing to China. This dependency has become a major concern, as China can use its control to influence international relations and trade.

A Canadian intern of Chinese origin was arrested at NATO's military headquarters in Belgium on charges of espionage. The intern is suspected of working for a third country, raising significant concerns about foreign influence within critical international security organizations.
