He added that this Assembly is a crucial period for overcoming the economic crisis and stabilizing public livelihoods, and the party will prioritize the lives of the people and focus on resolving livelihood issues.

Floor Leader Han Byung-do announced that standing committees would be fully operated to process legislation aimed at expanding housing supply, eradicating real estate speculation, stabilizing prices, and supporting small business owners and self-employed individuals.

He stated that while minister nominees would be thoroughly vetted, baseless slandering would be firmly countered to ensure that hearings become forums for productive discussion.

He questioned how investment in youth jobs, housing, education, and asset formation could be considered a cash handout.

He further emphasized that it is an essential investment for the lives of young people and urged the opposition party to present alternatives instead of criticism.

Floor Leader Han Byung-do strongly criticized the People Power Party for engaging in abusive language and personal attacks against the president, distorting the May 18th Democratic Uprising, and attempting to glorify Chun Doo-hwan. He pointed out that references to former Presidents Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye and movements denying impeachment have become commonplace for the People Power Party.

He stated that such behavior divides the public and incites social chaos, urging the People Power Party to correct its historical perception and engage in state affairs with a responsible attitude.

Policy Committee Chairman Kwon Chil-seung stated that yesterday, unprecedented heavy rainfall poured down on the Honam and Chungcheong regions, causing casualties and property damage. The Democratic Party pledged full party-level support for swift damage recovery and the return to daily life for the displaced.

He emphasized that there is no ruling or opposition party when it comes to people's livelihoods and vowed to create a National Assembly that gives hope to the people through productive discussions.

He added that this meeting would be the starting point for bipartisan cooperation to resolve livelihood issues.

He stated that President Lee Jae-myung also ordered the establishment of a police reform body.

The Democratic Party announced that it would establish a Police Reform Promotion Team within the party and hold its first meeting to devise concrete reform measures.

He emphasized that full tuition support for new students at local national universities would begin, and efforts would be made to prevent youth outflow to the Seoul metropolitan area and foster regional talent.

He explained that this would be an important policy to expand educational opportunities for young people and promote balanced regional development.

He stated that fostering regional talent and revitalizing the economy would be pursued through the creation of an education base linked to local strategic industries.

The Democratic Party added that it plans to consider bold investments in local public universities during budget deliberation.

He urged the opposition to offer concrete alternatives instead of criticism and to refrain from using youth policies as a tool for political strife.

He criticized Jang Dong-hyuk for suddenly bringing up the issue of visa-free entry for Chinese illegal immigrants, turning an irrelevant issue into a platform for political agitation.

He further pointed out that Jeju Island ranks 16th out of 17 provinces/cities in terms of missing person reports, indicating a low number, and stated that tangible public safety improvements would be pursued through additional CCTV installations and enhanced crime prevention activities by autonomous police.

Deputy Floor Leader Park Jeong-hyun stated that the current Lee Jae-myung administration's second cabinet reshuffle prioritized integration, competence, and expertise beyond factions, focusing on thorough practical appointments. He warned against the spread of false information about minister nominees and urged constructive verification.

Furthermore, he expressed the will to prepare measures for normalizing the real estate market in response to the Bank of Korea's potential interest rate freeze and to swiftly process livelihood stabilization legislation during the regular National Assembly session.

He added that this regular National Assembly session would be an important turning point for practically improving the lives of the people.

He assessed this as a result of the government's efforts to establish a life safety net.

He stated that through the 6th Basic Plan for Suicide Prevention, efforts would be made to shed the dishonor of having the highest suicide rate among OECD countries, emphasizing livelihood stabilization as a fundamental preventative measure to further improve the quality of life for the people.
