Project Vault Aims to Stockpile Rare Materials from Mine Tailings
The Trump administration launched Project Vault in February with a $2 billion allocation to purchase rare materials. This initiative focuses on acquiring mine tailings, which are rich in rare earth materials, with the goal of establishing a domestic strategic stockpile. The project seeks to secure access to these critical resources by building up reserves within the United States.
Peter Zeihan explained that the program aims to address the nation's reliance on foreign sources for essential components. "Project Vault is something that was set up by the Trump administration back in February with a couple billion dollars to purchase things like rare materials."
