Under Chairman Yang Jong-hee's leadership, KB Financial recorded strong performance last year, achieving over 5 trillion won in net profit for two consecutive years. In the first half of this year, it achieved a net profit of 3.8846 trillion won, marking the highest performance ever on a short-term basis. The contribution of non-banking sectors to net profit expanded to 44%, successfully diversifying the revenue structure.

KB Financial has strengthened its large-scale shareholder return policy to enhance shareholder value. Shareholder returns are expected to reach approximately 3.7 trillion won this year, with a confirmed 700 billion won share buyback and cancellation in the second half. Such proactive shareholder-friendly policies positively influence Chairman Yang Jong-hee's reappointment prospects.

Division Head Lee Jae-keun has experience in finance, strategy, and sales, and directly led Kookmin Bank. His strength lies in leading Kookmin Bank to stable performance. However, his relatively limited experience as CEO of non-banking affiliates is cited as a limitation.

This extensive experience differentiates him from other candidates. Conversely, a potential weakness is his potentially limited understanding of KB Financial's internal affairs.

Experts analyze that Chairman Yang Jong-hee has an advantage in quantitative indicators. However, in a rapidly changing financial environment, who can more clearly present new growth engines for the next three years will be the variable that decides the final outcome. The ability to predict national operational directions and respond to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, especially the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) in financial institutions, is emerging as an essential leadership requirement.
