Ronald Ojeda Murder: Villegas Convicted

This verdict is the first against a Tren de Aragua member within Chile, marking the judiciary's initial ruling on the organization's activities.

Villegas contributed to substantiating the facts of the case during the investigation, which began on February 21, 2024.

Prosecutors analyzed that Villegas performed security and support duties as a lower-level operative within the organization but was not involved in substantive negotiations, unlike the leadership.

This trial is significant as the first step in understanding the structure of the criminal organization and defining the roles of its members.

Chilean prosecutors will commence a second trial on October 20 for 18 defendants who were directly involved in the murder of Ronald Ojeda and the concealment of his body.

Authorities are working with judicial agencies from various countries to apprehend key figures, including the overall leader for South America, Carlos Bobby, and the head for Chile, 'El Turco'.

Prosecutor Héctor Barros requested this sentence.

The final sentencing for this case is scheduled for October 15. On this day, the court plans to determine the specific sentence.
